ABOUT US & HISTORY:
Pine Library Friends
consists of a group of Pine and Strawberry
supporters of the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library
(Pine Public Library).
Library Friends was established
in 1974 by a dedicated group of volunteers who believe supporting a public
library is essential to the quality of life within the communities. Library
Friends is committed to improving and expanding the library capabilities and
ensuring every member of the communities is aware of and welcome to the benefits
of the library.
Library Friends accomplishes
this mission by raising funds in support of the library needs, hosting events to
raise the awareness of the benefits of the library to the public and providing
input of the needs of the library to the library management and the Library
Board of Trustees.

MEETING SCHEDULE:

Pine Library Activity Room
(No meetings in August or November)
Meetings consist of Friends business discussions as well as
interesting programs. Programs include guest presentations of interest to the
community and book reviews. Past programs included presentations on Tonto Rim
Search and Rescue mission, Pine and Strawberry Fuel Reduction effort, growing
plants in the Rim Country by Plant Fair, finding rocks and minerals in the
Rim Country by the Rimstone Rock Club, and many more
subjects of interest.
The Holiday potluck is held in
December and features a wonderful lunch prepared by Library Friends. Everyone
is welcome to attend Library Friends business and social meetings, regardless of
Friends membership.

LIBRARY FRIENDS BOOK SALES:
Library Friends conducts at least three book sales
a year in the Library Activity Room. The book sales
consist of books weeded from the library stacks as well as the many donations
received from library supporters. The book sales are held in conjunction with
the community craft fairs sponsored by the Pine-Strawberry Arts & Crafts Guild over the
Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends.
The Library Friends also conduct
book sales within the library throughout the year. Library patrons and
non-library patrons are welcome at the Friends book sales.
In addition to books -- videos,
DVD movies, music cassettes and CDs, and magazines are also available at the sales.
Books include adult fiction and non-fiction, children’s books, large print
books, reference books, and rare books.
Donations to the Library Friends
book sales are accepted at the library throughout the year and during the
holiday book sales. All donations are tax deductible. Just ask for a tax
receipt.

MEMBERSHIP :
Library Friends membership is open to anyone who has an
interest in supporting the Pine Library. It is not necessary to be a full time
resident or property owner within Pine or Strawberry. Annual membership
dues for an Individual is $7.00 and Families are $10.00. Life memberships are
available for $100.00. Membership is open throughout the year. Membership
information is available at the Library or from any Library Friends officer.
